ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Commitment, innovation, and excellence are the hallmark values of the Kennesaw Mountain High School Band. Under the leadership of Michael Huebner, Director of Bands, and Corey Futtrell, Assistant Director of Bands, the program is comprised of nationally recognized ensembles that are committed to excellence and innovation in both visual and musical performance.

  • Eight-time Bands of America Grand National Finalist (2002, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014)
  • Three-time Bands of America Class AAA National Champion (2004, 2012, 2014)
  • Performance in the 2005 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade
  • Seven-time Regional Champion at a Bands of America Fall Championship Event (2002, 2003, 2007, 2008, 2014, 2015, 2017)
  • Seventeen-time Regional Finalist at a Bands of America Fall Championship Event (2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018)

  • Awarded the John Phillip Sousa Foundation Sudler Shield in 2003
  • Wind Symphony invitational performance at the 2006 Midwest Clinic
  • Percussion Ensemble invitational performance at the 2013 Midwest Clinic
  • Jazz Ensemble invitational performance at the 2006 Georgia Music Educators State Convention
  • Wind Symphony invitational performance at the at the 2010 and 2015 University of Georgia January Music Festival
  • Wind Symphony Superior ratings earned annually at the Georgia Music Educator’s Large Group Performance Evaluation
  • Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band performances at the 2019 Music for All Southeastern Concert Band Festival
  • Pit Orchestra awarded a Shuler Award for Best Orchestra for Little Shop of Horrors in 2016
